Chair of the Board Elaine Pellow has been announced as a finalist at this year’s Housing Heroes Awards.
The Housing Heroes Awards 2017 are organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing and Inside Housing magazine to recognise the hard work of the ‘unsung heroes’ of the housing world.
Elaine has been announced as one of nine finalists in the Tenant lifetime contribution category after being involved with PCH before transfer from Plymouth City Council and for the outstanding work she has overseen in her time as Chair of the Board.
Since Plymouth Community Homes came into being in 2009 Elaine has been instrumental in overseeing the delivery of the promises made as part of the stock transfer process. She has also worked hard to ensure that she understands the full picture on the Housing Sector generally and social housing in particular.
With PCH expanding after transfer she ensures that the Board remains customer-focussed and has an understanding of the broader housing needs of the city.
Elaine said: “I am shocked and overwhelmed to have been nominated for such a prestigious award and I am extremely proud of what we at PCH have achieved. All I have ever wanted is for us to look after the people we house, look after the pounds we spend and be proud of the places we have to offer.”
Head of Governance Belinda Pascoe, who has worked with Elaine since before the transfer said: “Elaine is a very visible Chair, a great ambassador for PCH, with a huge amount of energy. She manages to juggle her time between PCH with a range of charitable work. But perhaps her standout achievement is the contribution she has made to ensuring that tenants have, and will continue to have, a real influence in our decision making process.”
The awards ceremony will be held in Manchester on Monday 26 June and we will bring you all the latest news.
