We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious Investors in People (IIP) Gold accreditation.
You can be assured of a positive and professional service from PCH as we’ve just been independently assessed on a wide range of areas of service including our efficiency and positive culture.
At the time of this achievement we are one of only 1,500 employers nationwide to have achieved the Gold status and one of only five businesses based in the city to have received such an accolade. The gold standard is described by IIP as an achievement of ‘world class best practice’ and means we are considered to have the highest standards of people management and development that support our business aims.
IIP visited to interview staff, covering topics such as the vision and purpose of the business, whether staff feel they are making a difference and if they are offered training and learning opportunities.
We employ over 600 people across three sites in the city – our headquarter building at Plumer House, our stores at Brest Road and our Manufacturing company at Prince Rock.
We have undergone some big changes in recent years including welcoming new CEO John Clark in February 2016, managing the impact of welfare reforms, the changing housing market and funding arrangements which makes being awarded the gold accreditation a real honour.
Head of HR Bob Wilkey said: “We’re extremely proud to have achieved IIP Gold because it recognises just how much we value our people at PCH. This is a journey we’ve been on since 2009 when PCH first came to be and we’re still committed to being an employer of choice today.
“We are clear about wanting to attract the best people to PCH so we provide great services for our residents and other customers. And naturally once we’ve recruited them, we want to keep them so we make sure we invest in the skills of our staff to nurture talent and encourage dedicated and driven people to stay with us.”
The visiting assessor said: ““Overall, this assessment demonstrated you have made a great success of implementing your people engagement strategy since my last assessment and are now in an excellent place to launch your new Business and Valuing our People strategies. On that basis, I have no hesitation in recommending that Plymouth Community Homes be accredited at the Gold level of the Investors in People standard. Congratulations.”
Gill Martin, Director of Corporate and Manufacturing Services said: “Achieving IIP Gold is fantastic and helps to showcase PCH as an employer of choice in Plymouth. We want to attract the best and most talented people to ensure we provide great services for our residents and other customers, because we know people make PCH.
“PCH has a vision to be a leading, growing, independent housing association with a clear social purpose, providing homes and services people want and can afford. We know that to achieve our aims we need excellent people working hard for us – we look after our staff and they look after our customers. I’d like to thank all staff at PCH for their dedication and commitment, which has resulted in us achieving IIP Gold.”
