‘Making a difference to people’s lives.’ Plymouth Community Homes reach out to the community with their first film

Plymouth Community Homes today (Thursday 16 December) launch a film to help communicate their vision and work for residents and everyone in the local community.

The eight minute film, produced to highlight their first anniversary, features residents and staff of the housing association and showcases some of their homes and the local environment.

The focus is on ‘Making a difference to people’s lives’, demonstrating the impact of their work since tenants voted for the creation of Plymouth Community Homes in a stock transfer in late November 2009. It is honest about the work that still needs to be done.

The film takes a look at how the organisation are doing in bringing thousands of homes up to the government’s Decent Homes standard. It demonstrates how they want to better care for residents in their homes and work with the community to improve the local environment. Also featured is the major regeneration of North Prospect and how the organisation are investing in Plymouth and creating jobs for local people.

Said Clive Turner, Chief Executive: “Just over a year ago we made promises to residents that we would let them know what we’re up to and how we’re doing.

“Many people have told us they would prefer to hear from us through different forms of media. So by creating this film we hope to keep our promises to them in a way which reaches out to the community in a new and different way.”
