New PCH van

Plymouth Community Homes invest in services

Plymouth Community Homes has purchased seven specialist vans to update and improve the gas servicing and window installation fleet.  These vans will improve services and allow PCH staff to work more efficiently and in a more environmentally friendly way.

Tony Preece, the Fleet Manager explains: “Elements of the gas servicing and window installation roles have evolved over the months and some of our current stock of vans were no longer able to provide us with the level of service we need and our customers expect.”

The new vans are more economical, have sliding doors on both sides – , allowing easier access to materials – and are taller and longer than the previous vans.

Matthew Searl, general manager for the PVCu Department, added: “The van is  great. It’s able to carry an extra tonne in weight, has a lowered floor – allowing easier and safer unloading for our staff – and we are able to rack up full length trims and glass inside the van, instead of the conventional rack on the outside of the van. The icing on the cake though, are the cup holders.”

The £120,000 investment will mean real value for money. There will be savings from fuel expenditure and less journeys made due to increased size and weight bearing.
