Plymouth Resident chosen as Ambassador for 2012 Olympics

It’s just six months to the day until the London 2012 Olympics start and Plymouth resident Chris Hall has more reason to remember the date than most.

Chris Hall, a Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) leaseholder who lives in Stoke, has been selected to act as an official ambassador at the Games.

Chris was one of more than 12,000 applicants who volunteered their services for the event. She initially applied online and then attended an assessment day last year at Camden Town Hall in London, where she participated in team exercises and one-to-one interviews.

Ambassadors will provide a valuable service to travellers and will be located at key points across the capital – including transport hubs, outside Games venues, and at popular visitor spots.

Chris, who will be taking leave from her position at Plymouth Citybus Travel Centre at Debenhams during her two week stint at The Games this summer, will be based at London’s Paddington Station. From here, she will provide a personalised and knowledgeable welcome to visitors travelling to The Games – delivering much-needed information on what to see and do, where to stay and how to get around the capital.

Chris said: “I was born and bred in London but moved down to Plymouth and have lived here for over 30 years now. I am delighted to have been chosen as an Ambassador for The Games and feel that I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime. While I am working in London, I will make sure that I promote the positives of the City of Plymouth too.”

Chris takes an active role in her local community in Stoke and is a member of the PCH Customer Assurance Panel.

Chris is looking forward to attending the training days and receiving her official uniform and hopes to get the opportunity to view the Olympic site in advance of the Games.
