Introducing our green fleet

We are thrilled to announce that our Fleet Department has embarked on an exciting journey towards a greener future with the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) in our commercial fleet.

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, initiating a trial of four Ford E-Transits to assess the benefits of electric vehicles.

To ensure that our residents and other road users can easily recognise our efforts in making a positive difference in our city, we have branded our vans in our distinctive PCH branding. As we progress with our fleet greening strategy, we plan to transition to more traditional signage while incorporating EV branding.

In 2013, our department experimented with a Renault Kangoo, which was an early-stage development vehicle at the time. Unfortunately, it did not meet our performance requirements and was subsequently sold. However, we are optimistic that this new generation of electric vehicles will surpass expectations during the trial period, which spans an initial three months.

Peter Jackson, our dedicated Fleet Manager worked closely with the Fire Safety Team and pushed forward for this positive trial. The initial deployment of EVs has yielded promising results, and we anticipate even more encouraging outcomes as the trial progresses.

Additionally, this ongoing trial has identified areas where we can make substantial improvements in our infrastructure going forward. We are excited to explore these possibilities, knowing that they will further enhance our commitment to sustainability.

Together, we are taking the first steps towards an electrified future, and we invite our community to join us on this transformative journey. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to drive positive change for our city and the environment we share.
