Putting up shelves, changing lightbulbs and installing a new washing line may sound like easy enough household tasks – but not for everyone.
Older residents, or those who are infirm or disabled, may struggle to complete them safely.
That’s why we’ve introduced a Handyperson Service for ‘odd jobs’ that need doing around the home.
The service is something we promised to deliver in our offer document in 2009. We pledged to launch it within two years.
Many of the tasks don’t fall under our general repairs service so there will be an extra cost for the Handyperson Service.
The charge to tenants is £15 per hour plus VAT. This is subsidised by Plymouth Community Homes for the first 12 months.
The maximum amount of work the handyperson can do is two hours and if it’s less than an hour, the minimum charge is half an hour (£7.50).
The charge to leaseholders is £35 an hour plus VAT.
Callers can request a handyperson by ringing the usual repairs line – 0808 230 6500. They will be invoiced for the work after it has been completed.
