We're continuing to increase the number of affordable homes available in the region by purchasing a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership homes in Callington.

We offer homes for both affordable and social rent as well as shared ownership, both in Plymouth and across the wider travel to work area in both Devon and Cornwall including West Devon, South East Cornwall and the South Hams.

The Florence Park development on the eastern edge of the ancient market town of Callington consists of 46 homes, with Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) purchasing the 14 affordable units available. Ten of these homes will be available for affordable rent to local people, including 1 bedroom bungalows and flats, and 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses.

The development is being constructed by JW Nest, and the modern homes which will boast enviable views of Kit Hill and Tamar Valley, within a short walk of the town centre, will be available from August 2022.

Steven Poh, from JW Nest, said: “We’re pleased to be playing our part in addressing the housing crisis in Cornwall by providing much need affordable homes in Callington. We are delighted to be working with PCH at completing the first phase of the development. Developing sustainable new homes and communities is at the heart of what we do and being able to see the community thrive at Florence Park is testament to the great partnerships we will achieve with PCH. The development is ideally situated to take advantage of Cornwall’s beautiful countryside while the A388 and A390 are easily accessible.”.

Nick Jackson, Director of Business Services and Development at PCH, added: “We are delighted to have acquired these homes as there remains significant demand for affordable housing in the region and this scheme will offer new homes to local people which are affordable to rent and to purchase through shared ownership.

“As Plymouth’s largest housing association, we provide a trusted and fair landlord service and a high standard of social housing and shared ownership homes at a time when there is a high need for good quality social housing.”
