Coronavirus update - Friday 20 August 2021

Coronavirus update - Friday 20 August 2021

If you’re fully vaccinated or under 18 you no longer need to self-isolate after close contact with someone who has COVID-19. If you have symptoms, you should still isolate and take a PCR test. Find out when to self-isolate and what to do on the NHS website.

16 and 17-year-olds can now get vaccinated. They’ll be contacted and invited by the NHS but cannot book online.

We urge everyone to continue to remain cautious and follow the government guidance.

PCH staff visiting your home

When they arrive, PCH staff visiting homes will ask if you want them to wear a face covering. Staff may choose to wear a face covering if they wish. Staff will continue to wash and sanitise their hands regularly.

These measures remain in place to keep our staff and residents safe.

Please see our update below for more information about how Covid is affecting our services.

Talking about mental health

If you’ve been struggling with your mental health, then you’re not alone.  There are people you can turn to for help and advice.

Following the tragic events in Keyham last week that left our city in a state of shock, it’s never been more important to reach out and talk.

Plymouth Options offer free and confidential support for anyone experiencing mental health problems.  They can be reached on 01752 435419. Or via email: plymouthoptions@nhs.net

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis the First Response team can be reached on 0800 923 9323.

The Samaritans are also just a phone call away. For one-to-one telephone appointments you can call 07890 257614

For urgent help, or if you are at serious risk of harm always call 999.

Two chances to win a £75 shopping voucher

You could be in for a chance to win a shopping voucher by taking part in our latest survey. PCH wants to know what you think of your shower appliance. We want to be sure we are choosing the right supplier of showers in all our homes.

This short survey can be found here: https://bit.ly/2WbmWDv

The survey closes at 11pm on 31 August 2021. This survey is for PCH residents only.

We still want to hear about your green spaces

Here’s another chance to bag yourself a £75 Love2shop voucher by filling out our wildlife survey.

We want you to tell us all about the green spaces in your area.

Take part here: https://bit.ly/3ynGJ0v

Survey closes on 31 August 2021 at 11pm.

As before, this survey is for PCH residents only. Good luck!

Thinking of moving?

Our ability to work with residents on allocations, lettings, mutual exchanges, and sales is now operating as normal to pre-covid levels. If you have any questions or queries, please visit: www.plymouthcommunityhomes.co.uk/rent-or-buy/.

Community events and sheltered schemes

All our communal rooms in sheltered schemes are now open. A few restrictions remain while we make changes to the rooms, signs, equipment and kitchens to get them back to normal use.

We’re writing to every tenant in a sheltered housing home, to give details about the communal lounge in their own scheme.

Guest rooms in sheltered schemes will begin reopening for bookings from early September. We’ll give information about the guest room in each scheme to the tenants who live there in writing or by phone.

If we’re required to close a communal lounge or other communal facilities by Public Health because of a Covid 19 outbreak, we’ll contact the tenants in that scheme.

Community events and activities have restarted in person, although we’re still offering online and remote options as well. We are asking residents who attend any of our community events in person to wear face coverings and keep a distance from others.

Property viewings

We are continuing to hold face-to-face viewings of empty homes by prospective tenants where virtual viewings can’t take place.

Rent and payment changes

We’re committed to making sure that we can help you so it’s important to contact us as soon as possible if you have any money worries. We’d like to reassure our residents that we will not evict anyone due to a loss of income as a result of coronavirus. Call us on 0808 230 6500.

We’re still here to help – ways to contact us

  • The easiest way to manage your tenancy from a distance is by using MyPCH.
  • Webchat is live every weekday on our website from 10am until 4pm.

Other places to turn to for help

We’re working with police teams on reports of anti-social behaviour which you can report to us on 0808 230 6500 or 0800 028 7377 (out of hours).
