Coronavirus Update - Thursday 14 April

Whatever your plans for the Bank Holiday weekend, we hope you have a wonderful Easter break.
Please enjoy yourself but remember that coronavirus case numbers are still very high in Plymouth.

If you’re planning a weekend away, keep in mind that the South West has higher case numbers than much of the rest of the country.

Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the latest coronavirus update.

Covid-19 cases heading in the right direction
Although cases are still high, they have continued a downward trend since our last update and are slowly coming down.

We can all do our bit to keep case numbers heading in the right direction.

Although the rules and restrictions have now been lifted, residents are urged to remain cautious and self-isolate if you test positive. This is still a serious disease for vulnerable people.

Home testing kits
You now need to pay for home-testing lateral flow kits (LFT). Most pharmacies are selling a pack of five tests for around £9.50.
Certain people such as care workers or those living/working with extremely vulnerable are exempt from this charge.

Click here, if you think you may be eligible for a free test.

Additional booster shot for certain groups
Some vulnerable people are still being offered a spring booster jab. People aged 75 and over, and those with weakened immune systems are invited to book a fourth jab.

You can book your booster by clicking here.

Open a window if you have guests
Research has shown that opening a window even slightly can reduce the spread of the virus. So, if you’re having friends over or cooking a Sunday roast for the family, keeping a window slightly open will reduce the chances of you catching Covid-19. The weather is expected to stay mild into next week.

Face masks
It's down to you. Whether you choose to wear a face mask or not, is now a personal choice. When visiting your home, PCH staff will continue to ask if you would prefer a mask to be worn.
