Creative writing competition to celebrate 100 years of social housing

This July marks 100 years of social housing, when in 1919 the new Housing Act became law in order to provide 500,000 new homes fit for heroes following the end of World War l.

To celebrate a century of social housing we are launching a creative writing competition. We are asking residents to describe in their own words ‘how social housing has had a positive impact on your life’. The piece of writing should be no more than 150 words and can be provided in written or electronic form.

All entries should be submitted by Thursday 4 July and can be emailed to or delivered in person.

The entries will be judged by our very own Creative Writing Group. If you’re interested in joining the Creative Writing Group, contact Murdo on 0808 230 6500. It meets every Friday from 2pm to 4pm at Plumer House, Crownhill.
