Efford's Big Green Picnic
The Efford community joined us for the ‘Get Green’ Picnic as families came together to enjoy a day of activities.
Families were able to enjoy a free picnic and there was something to do for everyone, including a dog show!
The dog show, judged by staff from PDSA gave out awards for the best trick, best eyes and the dog that looked the most like its owner!
It wasn’t just the pups pulling off their best moves, there was a dancing session where the best dancer was given a prize by EXIM Dance.
For those brave enough there was a chance to get up close to creepy crawlies and a live python, whilst music was provided by an African drumming band and Mark Farley and the Stircrazys.
Following the green theme there was the opportunity to go exploring on the Big Bug Hunt and look for local wildlife in the park thanks to the Wildlife Trust.
Communities Worker and Organiser of the event Rheinallt Huws said: “It has been a great day, we’ve had dogs doing tricks and everyone up dancing, having fun. These types of events are so important for the community, the school holidays are coming to an end and it will soon be back to normal for many families so we’re really happy we could put on a fun day.”
He added: “Everyone involved has been superb and made the day possible. There has been so much for everyone to see and do and plenty of information, food and activities.
Mum Louise, who attended the day with her two children said: “My boys have loved it, I couldn’t get them to finish the Big Bug Hunt, they were having so much fun learning about all the different wildlife here in the field.”
