Important changes to the way you top up with British Gas

From 1 January you’ll no longer be able to top up or replace your card or key through PayPoint – you’ll need to go to a Payzone outlet or Post Office instead.

You can top up online if you have a smart meter from the comfort of your sofa. You won’t need your smart meter number and if you save your card details you can top up in future with just a few simple clicks.

Payzone outlets can be found in newsagents, supermarkets and garages so just spot the logo – you can top up a minimum of £5 and will need to top up to the nearest pound, so no £8 or £9 and not £8.50.

You can read all the information on the British Gas website here.

Of course this can be a good time to look at changing providers if you want to and some of the best comparison sites will show you the best places to get the best deals on your home energy.
