Love is in the air for residents at new homes
Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating the love of your life – and for residents at Porsham Heights that means their new home.
New tenants and shared owners at our development in Skerries Road, Southway, are loving their new houses.
And soon, there will be more of them to share the love – for the last homes at the development have been handed over to us from builder Galliford Try, which means more people will be moving in soon.
Galliford have been putting the finishing touches to the 67 homes on the site of the former Southway Campus.
The £8.2m development includes 42 houses and flats for affordable rent and 25 homes for shared ownership.
Shared owner Dan Clarke and his family (pictured) moved in to Porsham Heights just before Christmas. They’re now settled in their home and looking forward to spring arriving, when they can get out and enjoy the area.
Dan said: “We’re happy here. We’re now getting more neighbours too which is a bit strange after not having too many for so long. It’s exciting to see them move in.
“This is a new area for us and we’re looking forward to getting to know it better. Because the weather has been so poor, we’ve not been able to get out. We want to explore the local woods and walks.”
Claire Newcombe, PCH Development Officer, said: “It’s always great to see the positive impact building new homes has and we’re really happy to hear that Dan and his family have settled in well to their new home.
“PCH and Galliford Try have worked together to bring this development to a successful conclusion with further homes due for occupation very soon. We continue to work together at Brentor View.
“A former Plymouth City Council site brought forward for housing, Porsham Heights has delivered affordable new homes; helping to meet the city’s housing need. We wish all the new residents well in their new homes.”
The nearby Brentor View development is on the old Southway Primary School site in Bampfylde Way.
When complete, Brentor View will have 95 homes – 55 for affordable rent and 40 for shared ownership.
