New homes as year draws to a close
The first phase of homes at our Manadon development have now been let or sold – just in time for Christmas.
Eight homes at The Quarters are filled, with the remaining 12 to be handed over next March.
Bridget Nield has settled in to her new home there after 34 years living in Crownhill.
She and her husband Mark felt the time was right to downsize
Bridget said: “I lived in my previous home with my mum and nan and grandad. After they died I stayed on but wanted to downsize.
“There were so many memories there but it was time for a fresh start.
“I’d seen somewhere at Poet’s Corner but in the meantime this came up. I didn’t see the inside, only the outside. I fell in love with it straight away. Mark told me not to get my hopes up though.”
Fortunately, the couple successfully bid for the home and moved in at the end of October.
Bridget said: “I love the area. It’s a new estate and it’s quiet. I sleep much better here.”
Bridget is well known throughout Plymouth as she helps out during the summer selling ice creams for her family business, Williams.
She takes their van to our summer events at the Mount Wise Towers as well as football tournaments in the city and weddings.
In other developments, work at Butcher Park Hill in Tavistock is progressing well. Three shared ownership homes were handed over to us by Barratt Homes earlier this month with two of the sales having been completed before Christmas.
Seven more are due to be handed over next month.
In total, during 2019, we completed 110 new homes in Plymouth and beyond – 80 rental properties and 30 for shared ownership.
We’ll keep you updated in the New Year about other developments we’ve got in Plymouth and outside of the city.
