Our plans for new homes
We know we need to grow more homes to meet demand for decent affordable places in Plymouth and the wider area, especially as homes are sold through the Right to Buy scheme.
Our Development Strategy sets out how we’re going to do this over the next few years.
Between now and 2022, we plan to deliver more than 600 homes within Plymouth and surrounding areas. This includes homes for affordable rent, shared ownership and open market sale.
This is after our Board approved plans for us to develop within a 30-minute travel time from Plymouth.
The development and sale of open market homes will give us income that we’ll invest in the delivery of affordable housing and we’re continually on the lookout for more land.
Our regeneration of North Prospect is due to come to an end in 2024 and a number of other developments have either recently finished or are due to finish soon – Porsham Heights, Primrose Park, Brentor View and Briar Tor.
We've got other schemes in the pipeline – we’re currently building homes in East Cornwall, West Devon and the South Hams.
We’ll continue to speak to residents about design – at annual events like the design conference every October and through customer surveys – as these influence future projects.
We’ll also keep working with our partners to deliver training placements for local people – previous skills academies we’ve run have been successful, with many participants going on to gain full-time apprenticeships or jobs.
