PCH staff volunteer to help those in need over Christmas
Members of staff from PCH helped prepare veg for a Christmas meal and volunteer to help those in need on Christmas Day.
Plumer House was a buzz of festive cheer on Christmas Eve as staff and volunteers sang Christmas songs and took part in a community vegetable peel to help prepare dinners for those less fortunate.
Headed by Arterne CIC’s Operation Snow, Housing Officer Nicky Blackwell directed the veg peel which went down well with a little mulled wine. Nicky and fellow Housing Officer Clare Turner also volunteered their time to help out at Hamoaze House on Christmas Day to help cook dinner and play games.
Operation Snow was founded four years ago to help families at Christmas on a low income, people on their own, and people who are homeless. Operation Snow provides support throughout the year with essential items such as toiletries, food and clothing.
Nicky said: “The veg peel was a huge success and we are hoping to do it again next year. We want to thank PCH for letting us use the space available and supporting us in our efforts. It was incredible to see so many people giving up their time enthusiastically but I think I’ve seen enough of Brussels sprouts to last me a lifetime!”
