PCH win another apprentice and training award

We picked up the Apprentice and Training Scheme Award at Insider Media’s Made in South West Awards in Bristol, fighting off some top names.

The judges were hugely impressed by PCH’s investment in training and apprenticeships and the win means we’re now on our way to the national awards as one of the regional winners.

Danni Houston, HR Business Partner, Learning and Development, attended the awards with Paul Hill, PVCu Surveyor and Jack Gale, a PCH Manufacturing Apprentice.

Bob Wilkey, Head of HR, said: “We’re really pleased to have been recognised for the investment we make into our training and our apprentices. It’s all about the difference we can make in upskilling the workforce.

“We’ve recently upskilled our Window Fitters at Manufacturing so that they have completed their fenestration apprenticeships. This included NVQ’s at Level 2 and 3 as well as gaining Level 2 functional skills (Maths and English; equivalent to C grades at GCSE ) and technical certificates.

“One of our apprentices is in a trainee post ready to take the next step to be able to become a Window Fitter as well.

“We will soon be recruiting another two Window Fitting Apprentices and have just appointed Jessica as a Business Administration Apprentice.

“Add to this the success we’ve seen with previous apprentices Jordan and Beth who have gone on to secure roles in housing within PCH and we really do go above and beyond what most employers do in recruiting and supporting apprentices.”
