Ready for free Raiders coaching sessions? Join the players each Wednesday

Are you ready to shoot some hoops with Plymouth Raiders?

Plymouth Community Homes has teamed up with Plymouth Raiders to offer free coaching sessions to children throughout the school holidays.

The sessions, which were extremely popular last summer, are being held weekly on Wednesdays at two locations. The first session runs from 2:15 until 3:15 at Mount Wise’s Basketball court off Clowance Street, whilst the second session takes place at the Granby arena between 3:30 and 4:30.

Delivering the sessions throughout the summer will be Raiders players Josh Palmer, Tola Okiki and Denzel Ubiaro. The fun sessions, which are for all abilities aged seven and above will include learning basketball skills, team activities and the importance of healthy nutrition.

The summer holidays are the perfect time to get outside and exercising and the sessions promote the benefits of moving, fuelling the body with healthy snacks all whilst having lots of fun.

Communities Worker Hayley Kemp said: “What a fantastic opportunity this is, we are privileged to have three Raiders players delivering sessions over the summer holidays.

“The sessions are completely free and for all abilities. It is great for kids to be outside, learning new skills and just having lots of fun. We’ll also be giving away fruit and water throughout the sessions.

“It was very popular last year and we anticipate the same again, especially given the nice warm weather. All you need to do is turn up to one of the sessions and away you go.”

The sessions will run each Wednesday, with the last one on 28 August.
