Shop marks three decades

Loyal shoppers were treated to free food and goodie bags when their neighbourhood convenience store celebrated 30 years in business.

Vicky and Terry McCarthy, who run the Premier shop in North Prospect Road with their son and daughter Brendan and Clare, held an anniversary party to mark three decades of serving the community.

The fun day included cream teas and wine and cheese tastings, face painting for the kids and giveaways – every hour Vicky blew a whistle and gave away goodie bags.

The shop, originally a Happy Shopper, has been extended over the years.

Vicky, who also runs stores in Cornwall, said: “We wanted to say a thank you to our customers for all their support. We have a very loyal customer base."

The business is one of more than 170 commercial premises we own across the city.
