We make a move into Sherford
We’re building our first homes in Sherford, the new town that sits between Plymouth and the South Hams.
We’ve secured a deal with Taylor Wimpey to build 17 affordable homes, and the house builder has started work on the foundations.
The homes, which are being marketed under the name Coppice Place, are due to be ready by the end of next year.
There will be nine one and two bed homes for affordable rent and eight two bed shared ownership homes for sale through SO Living.
This is the first time we’ve built homes in the South Hams and means that our rented properties will be available for residents who are on the South Hams housing register.
Nicola Daniel, PCH’s Senior Project Manager, said: “This is a double first for PCH – the first homes we’ve built in the South Hams and our first foray into Sherford, which is shaping up to be a really exciting community.
“We’re hoping it will lead to other opportunities for us to provide much-needed affordable housing within this vibrant, new town.”
South Hams District Council’s Lead Member for Sherford, Councillor Dan Brown, said: “We are pleased to welcome Plymouth Community Homes as a delivery partner with South Hams District Council. We understand that they have an excellent track record in tenancy management and look forward to working with them on the Sherford scheme.
“Hopefully there will be further opportunities to work with them on other new developments in the future.”
When complete, Sherford will have 5,500 homes in three distinct neighbourhoods, four schools, community facilities, shops, businesses, abundant green space, a 500-acre community park and more.
