We’ve secured homes at our largest development outside of Plymouth

We will be acquiring homes at our largest new housing development outside of Plymouth, helping more families in the South West get access to quality, affordable places to live.

Located on the outskirts of Saltash, the impressive scheme is being developed by Barratt David Wilson Homes with 387 new homes on offer including 107 affordable properties for Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) residents.

We’ve already invested in other developments outside the city boundaries with homes in Liskeard, Callington, St Ann’s Chapel, Yelverton, Newton Ferrers, Sherford and Tavistock, but none yet to this scale.

65 of our homes will be available for affordable rent including a selection of 1 and 2 bedroom flats and 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses for those through the local housing register.

There will also be 42 shared ownership homes including a selection of 2 and 3 bedroom houses available through our sales brand SO Living. These homes will be marketed under the name Bellwood View and will be available for local people with a connection to the area.

The affordable homes are expected be handed over in phases commencing Summer 2022 until the final phase in Autumn 2024.

The remaining homes at the development are available for open market sale through Barratt David Wilson Homes.

This scheme is part of a wider project which will see up to 1,000 homes being built in the area.

Nick Jackson, Director of Business Services and Development at PCH, said: “We are pleased to be working with Barratt David Wilson Homes again after a successful partnership that delivered the first phases of transformational regeneration in North Prospect, Plymouth as well as a selection of high-quality homes in Tavistock.

“There remains significant demand for affordable housing and this scheme will offer homes in a fantastic location that are genuinely affordable to rent and purchase through shared ownership. We hope to bring some joy, stability and security for many people in the local area who are struggling to find a place of their own to call home.”

Jo Agnew, Project Manager at PCH, said: “We’re pleased to be playing our part in addressing the housing crisis in Cornwall by providing much need affordable homes in Saltash. The development is ideally situated to take advantage of Cornwall’s beautiful countryside and stunning coastline while the A38 is easily accessible.”
