Recycling Joy: Efford Community Event

04 June 25

PCH Efford Toy Giveaway 25 06

Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) returned to High View School in Efford last week for the annual Efford Community Event, where PCH hosted their ever-popular free toy stall for residents.

The event hosted a number of local stalls, from arts and crafts to selfie booths for parents and children to enjoy. The local police force showed their support for the event with an engaging stall, and some children getting a first-hand tour of the police vehicle parked by the entrance.

PCH's toy stall, sourced by the Reuse Centre was as popular as ever, with children and parents exploring the mountain of free toys available at the stand. With such a variety and a friendly team manning the stall, there was something for everyone.

The Reuse Centre is a staple for these events, where unwanted toys and household items are recovered from vacant PCH properties. Rather than discarding these items, the Reuse Centre recycles the items, providing an avenue for sustainability and reducing waste. By transforming previously loved toys, the Reuse Centre provides new life and offers them to those who can find joy in these items once again.

Throughout the day, PCH staff engaged with the community, meeting new faces and improving relationships. This event provided an opportunity for community members and local partners to come together.

Rheinallt Huws, Communities Worker at Plymouth Community Homes said:

“It’s always a pleasure to work with the Reuse Centre on the Free Toys Stall. They’ve always got a vast array of good quality toys which the children relish. We distributed two van loads of toys at the Efford Community Event”
