Midnight Walk 2025

On Friday evening, over 1,125 walkers took on the Midnight Walk celebrating precious memories of much-missed family members and friends, while raising funds to support the compassionate care St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth delivers.

The walkers took on a choice of four routes – 2.5, five, 7.5 and 13.5 miles (the equivalent of a half marathon) – making it accessible for people of all ages and levels of fitness, with the 13.5 mile route passing our Head Office, Plumer House.

They passed our Head Office from 10:30pm - 1am and we opened Plumer House as a pit stop for walkers to use the toilet facilities and to grab a quick refreshment.

A huge thanks to our volunteers who gave up their sunny Friday evening to cheer on the walkers and hand out refreshments alongside Jonathan and Imran from City Security.

The gazebo was filled with apples, water, glow sticks and sweets, including some very delicious and fizzy cola bottles, which one walker named the best cola bottles they've ever eaten after walking over 10 miles to reach us.

Many walkers embellished their outfits with cowboy hats, flashing bunny ears, boas, garlands and headdresses, while some opted for full-on fancy dress.

The colourful parade of walkers started their walk at Central Park through to the Hoe, via Western Approach and Millbay, as sunset approached. While the 13.5-milers completed a circuit that took them through the city to Embankment and back to their starting point via Derriford roundabout, the five and 7.5 mile entrants looped back up to Argyle and beyond via Armada Way and North Cross. Setting out last, the 2.5-mile walkers swung right out of Home Park, marching up Outland Road to Manadon Roundabout before retracing their steps.
