Supporting Our People & Planet: Reusable Bottles for our colleagues on the go.

09 April 26

PCH 2604 Water Bottles 7 Medium

We’re pleased to share an update on supporting sustainability and staff wellbeing at Plymouth Community Homes. Following feedback from staff, reusable water bottles and coffee mugs have been rolled out to teams across teams at PCH including Environmental Services, Repairs, People & Culture, Health and Safety, Communications and Procurement. The initiative provides a convenient and sustainable solution for colleagues who are regularly on the move.

Led by Justin Francis, Head of Procurement, the project forms part of a wider effort to phase out single use plastics. Since the 2022 heatwave, 1.5 litre plastic water bottles had been widely used across PCH locations. By offering a reusable alternative, we are not only reducing plastic waste but also equipping colleagues with durable, practical items to support their daily work.

Justin Francis said:"With cross-department support and consultation to ensure we selected the right products, I am delighted that this project has successfully been delivered - benefiting both our employees and the environment".

Early feedback has been very positive, with teams already making great use of the products:

“It’s a step in the right direction; over the Summer we can use hundreds of litres of water, usually in plastic bottles. This is a great sustainable alternative”.

This is a strong example of how sustainability and staff wellbeing can go hand in hand, reflecting PCH’s values to care respect, listen, and do the right thing.
