About the Carnival:

The West End Carnival on Saturday 23rd August, 11am to 4pm has an amazing programme of fun, free entertainment to enjoy both on stage and the surrounding streets.

Brought to you by the Plymouth City Centre Company, the carnival promises circus performances, live music, dance, facepainting, food and craft stands, carnival rides, a fortune teller, street entertainment, classic cars and family activities.

In the lead up to the big day, from 9th to 23rd August, you can follow the Carnival Trail around the West End, and enter the competition to win one of the 3 voucher prizes online to spend on the high street. Pick up a trail map from Daamn Good Bakes, 104 New George Street, Plymouth.

Road closures 

To help make the event as safe and successful as possible, the following road closures will be in place on Saturday 23rd August from 8am to 5pm:

  • The whole of Market Avenue will be closed, the lower end of New George Street to the junction of Raleigh Street and the lower end of Cornwall Street to the junction of Market Way.
  • There will also be a road closure in place on the junction from Colin Campbell Court and Market Avenue, access to Colin Campbell Court Car Park and the businesses within will be facilitated by the southbound lanes of Western Approach. 
  • There will also be suspension of on street parking from New George Street to the junction of Raleigh Street, the lower end of Cornwall Street to the junction of Market Way and the entirety of Market Avenue. 
  • There will be a 2-way traffic light system in place from the junction of Morley Court and Market Way and the junction of Plymouth Coach Station and Market Way
