Your guide to moving out and ending your tenancy
If you want to end your tenancy agreement, you will first need to get in touch with your Housing Officer. They will explain how much notice you need to give depending on your type of tenancy, how you can give notice and the next steps.
Once you have given notice and this has been confirmed by your Housing Officer, there's a few things you will need to do to make sure the moving out process goes as smooth as possible.
What do I need to do before I leave?
Leave your home clean and tidy
Remove all rubbish and waste materials as well as any unwanted furniture, carpets, curtains, or other possessions. As well as the general living space you should also clear any loft, storage shed or the garden if you have it.
If we have to clear away rubbish after you have left, we will recharge you for our expenses to do so.
Check with your Housing Officer if you are unsure about what you need to do.
Alterations
If you have made any alterations to your home, you will need to change these back.
Submit meter readings
Get the meter readings for your gas, electricity and water and send them to your supplier.
Leave any cards or keys for utilities in the property.
